Butyrate · SCFA & MCFA Specialists
From Butyric Acid to Feed Additive — One Integrated Partner
SKF (Beijing) Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is the specialty feed-additive company of Beijing Challenge Group, focused on butyrate and short/medium-chain fatty acid solutions for animal gut health.
Ecological Science, Share Future.
Heritage: Beijing Challenge Group held New Feed Additive Certificate No. (2005) 03 for potassium diformate (FUER), developed with BASF — one of China’s first approvals of its kind.
Why Butyrate
Butyrate is the primary energy source for colonocytes and a key signal for gut development and barrier function. Site, duration and density of butyrate release drive animal health and feed efficiency.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is tributyrin and how does it work?
Tributyrin is the glycerol ester of butyric acid (CAS 60-01-5). It is odorless, non-corrosive and thermostable, and it passes the stomach intact. Along the small intestine, pancreatic lipases hydrolyse it stepwise into monobutyrin and butyrate, so butyrate is released gradually where epithelial turnover is highest — one molecule of tributyrin yields three of butyric acid. Release depends on lipase activity and may not be complete, which is one reason responses differ between young and older animals.
Is tributyrin stable during feed pelleting?
Yes. Tributyrin is thermostable and survives normal pelleting and extrusion temperatures without meaningful loss of activity.
Are you a manufacturer or a trader?
